Thinking In Mockingbird Time is an art installation, audiobook, expanded comic, and bird watching event, durning June 2023, at the Lena Roberts Sillers Chapel in Cleveland, MS. The project examines meaning in our current moment, mimicry, and the multiple. Wheatpasted prints and bird feeders were located throughout the chapel’s courtyard. A QR code directed viewers to the video element.
The video was created by feeding my own drawings, photographs and writing into various generative AI systems. The newly generated images and writing was then fed back into these systems again and again. The process was much like the children’s game telephone. Slowly the images and words duplicated, evolved and changed from their original meaning.
